During his second state visit to Britain, U.S. President Donald Trump admitted he was baffled by artificial intelligence, joking that he hoped tech leaders knew what they were doing as AI “takes over the world.”

Trump Signs AI Deal

Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer co-hosted business and technology leaders, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, in London. The gathering culminated in the signing of a “Tech Prosperity Deal”, pledging joint efforts on AI research, quantum computing, and nuclear energy projects.

Departing from his prepared remarks on the strong U.S.-U.K. relationship and massive investment commitments, Trump playfully turned to Huang:“I don’t know what you’re doing here. I hope you’re right. All I can say is, we both hope you’re right.” His off-script humor drew laughter from Starmer and attendees.

As part of the deal, Nvidia announced plans to deploy 120,000 GPUs across Britain, its largest European rollout to date, giving the U.K. a major boost in AI infrastructure.

Trump, in typical fashion, added a joke before signing: “Scott, should I sign this? If the deal’s no good, I’m blaming you,” he told Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Analysts say the agreement strengthens transatlantic tech cooperation while placing Britain at the center of Europe’s AI race. For Nvidia, it cements its role as the world’s leading AI chipmaker with a major government-backed footprint.
